Uses for Potassium Titanate include welding rod flux manufacture, refractory applications such as thermal insulating fibre and other formulations, and in friction materials and high temperature friction composites. Our Potassium Titanate SD-Grade is frequently used as an ingredient in cored welding rod formulations as it results in improved metallurgical attributes and a better quality of weld. This is due to the enhanced arc stability provided by the Potassium Oxide and superior slag flow given by the slag-forming Titanate. Potassium Titanate is particularly renowned for its strength, stiffness, low dielectricity and wear resistance, which makes it absolutely perfect for use in the automotive industry. For example, it is often utilised as a friction additive in brake linings so as to increase mechanical strength and stiffness, with its resistance to high temperatures also being beneficial. The good thermal and wear resistance of Potassium Titanate, coupled with its strength and stiffness, also make it a useful ingredient for refractory materials such as thermal insulating fibres and as a reinforcing additive for both plastics and metals.
