Na2SO4

Sodium Sulphate

Sodium sulphate (Na2SO4) is a white, water-soluble salt used in glass manufacture, detergents, textile dyeing and paper making. Supplied from stock in the UK, from 100g to bulk bags.

Sodium Sulphate Supplier

Thermograde is a UK supplier of sodium sulphate (Na2SO4, CAS 7757-82-6), also spelled sodium sulfate, held in stock at our Staffordshire site and available in quantities from 100g samples to bulk bags. Anhydrous sodium sulphate is a white crystalline powder that dissolves readily in water. It is obtained both from natural mineral deposits and as a by-product of chemical manufacturing, and its hydrated form is known as Glauber’s salt.

In glass manufacture, sodium sulphate is used as a fining agent. It releases gases in the melt that help clear small bubbles and reduces scum on the surface of the molten glass, giving a clearer, more consistent product. It also contributes sodium oxide, which acts as a flux.

Sodium sulphate is widely used as a filler in powdered detergents, as a levelling agent in textile dyeing, where it helps dyes take up evenly, and in the kraft process for making paper pulp. Because the anhydrous form readily absorbs water, it is also used as a drying agent in laboratories and chemical processing.

Sodium sulphate has low toxicity, but the powder should be handled with dust control and stored dry, as it absorbs moisture from the air. This grade is not intended for food, feed or pharmaceutical applications. A safety data sheet and certificate of analysis are available on request.
